Math riddle

If you hang around the printer long enough at work, somthing interesting's bound to turn up eventually. This printout, free of accompanying explanation or context, caused me a few minutes of amusement and puzzlement until I figured it out.
8 - 4 = 8
8 - 5 = 9
9 - 5 = 8
9 - 6 = 9
9 - 7 = 10
10 - 6 = 8
10 - 7 = 9
