Wedding in Massachusetts
Saturday we went up to rural Central Massachusetts for the wedding of
Pam's cousin Jayne, driving about four hours each way. The ceremony
was outdoors in a large grassy area at the home of the couple under
clear skies with the reception in a large tent nearby. The couple were
married by his mother (a civil justice by occupation) and her three
children were also asked to participate just before the exchange of
rings. It was another chance to meet with extended family we haven't
seen since my father-in-law's funeral in May. No unpleasantness or bad
behavior among the attendees to report. Most impressive feature:
bonfire with flames leaping fifteen feet high. The homemade wine in
bottles on the tables was an unusual personal touch as well.
Afterwards, we drove back to Northampton where
we were staying, and in lieu of supper, just went into the center of
town where we found some homemade ice cream at a traditional candy
store for a sweet ending.
