Lovecraftian goodness
The stage production of A Shoggoth on the Roof
(based on the writing of
H. P. Lovecraft) will now
never come off because of legal challenges by the "Fiddler on the Roof" team of Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick who wrote the music.
Especially not to be missed is the
mock documentary
unearthing the origin of the musical, which features the great line: "There were
some things man was not meant to adapt to musical theater." So true.
Perhaps they might have stuck with a score which has already
passed into the
Public Domain, say
Offenbach's 1880 Tales of Hoffmann
(dead link).

friend Daryl for the Lovecraft link.
