Frabjous Times

hay(na)ku poetry sequence

Untitled

hay(na)ku
It
began with
the secret listeners,

hidden
prison cells
in secret dungeons,

broken,
our wounded
pressed to disappear,

until
we ask
“pay any price?”
Historically,
some debts
define the soul,

others,
by contrast,
consume the substance

liens
never shrinking
generation after generation.
