February 2005 links
I have a bumper crop of links from February 2005:
- I missed the 2004 Dodge Poetry festival at its new venue last fall, but I was at the 2002 festival. So I appreciated the handy guide to tell you How To Tell If You Are At Ozzfest Or Dodge Poetry Fest
- It's so simple. Why is there a need for one to cry "No! Wrong! Totally wrong! Where'd you learn this? Stop doing it!"?
- I am grateful to have never had occasion to refer to Murphy's Laws of Combat
- All the people landing on my site through searches for Filipino folklore (or something similar) might be advised to check out THE EPICS: PHILIPPINE FOLK LITERATURE by Damiana L. Eugenio. I don't have a copy myself, at least not yet.
- EBG-13 Rapelcgbe & Qrpelcgbe
- I wish I could say that I've heard Les Horribles Cernettes on one of my visits to the lab, but I cannot.
- Queries to the Internet Wayback Machine don't seem to work properly with pages not at port 80, like mine, as witness the unreachable links on this search results page. But it turns out that with a little bit of URL munging, I can see how my main blog page has been archived on Too bad the stylesheets didn't come along for the ride.
- Here's a catalog of all manner of domestic articles from the 16th century or so.
- Via information junk:
- "Imagine that you are walking in a lonely part of the country, carrying a light switch or an umbrella, when suddenly a foot-pad bars your way, carrying a stout stick, with which he threatens you."
- Via boingboing:
- The by-nc-nd Creative Commons license has a 28% distribution among all such licenses, according to a Yahoo! search
